Assemble an inexpensive Starter Kit for Watercolor Painting

The materials for your watercolor kit are cost-effective as you start out, using simple paints —either Prang or Crayola brand— and good quality, multi-use brushes (only 3 needed!). Professional 140-lb. cold press watercolor paper is key and is worth a little bit of extra money. These will all work marvelously for you. See list below:

Lesson 1: Wet-on-wet Painting to frame

Now that you have your materials, it’s time to PAINT! Follow the demonstration, using your own shapes, colors, and brush choices to create a unique-from-you abstract watercolor painting to frame! It’s easy and it’s fun. Marilee shows you how with tips for success.

Strathmore cold press 140 lb. Watercolor paper tablet, 11 X 15 inch

3/4” flat watercolor brush (Royal brand is good)

#8 size round watercolor brush (Royal brand is good)

Liner brush, long hairs (Royal brand is good)

8-color box of watercolors with brush inside (Prang or Crayola are strong colors)

roll of masking tape

sturdy board to tape watercolor paper down
